Carhartt Case Study

A major clothing brand finds a good fit.

Helm goes to work for its client.

The Situation: Carhartt is a respected manufacturer of premium work clothing. The company’s products are known for exceptional durability, comfort, quality, and fit. The company’s business was growing and it wanted to upgrade its fulfillment system to better support its retailers with collateral marketing and POS materials and supplies. However, it was not confident its fulfillment vendor was capable of meeting scalability demands. Carhartt’s retail relationships were obviously a high priority and its fulfillment needs complex involving sophisticated co-op arrangements, intricate ordering and shipping logistics, third-party ordering, and a multitude of related processes. Carhartt could not afford glitches in the system. Its concerns led it to Helm.

The Solution: Helm evaluated Carhartt's requirements and then worked with Carhartt to develop a better, more efficient, “best-in-class” retail fulfillment system that addressed their issues. Helm revamped Carhartt’s ordering, shipping, and inventory management mechanisms making dozens of program improvements. The changes allowed retailers to order directly from Carhartt, which then forwarded the requests to Helm for fulfillment. Helm provided retailers with materials ranging from collateral and POS items (brochures, sell sheets, and more) to functional racks and hangers. Helm also took on fulfillment responsibility for promotions that included customer rebates and free extras.

The Results: Simply said, Carhartt customer satisfaction significantly increased as the fulfillment system Helm created bolstered ordering accuracy, speed, and efficiency. Costs were contained and glitches became a thing of the past. And, by the way, yes, we all wear Carhartt.
