Associate Buyer

Summary: The Associate Buyer will develop, plan and implement in conjunction with the procurement department all products, plans and programs needed to support the sales team as well as the customer’s product plans and initiatives.

 

Duties:

  • Maximize sales of client websites, catalogs and flyers.
  • Make visits to competitor web sites to monitor merchandise activity and identify best items/ideas.
  • Suggest new items, hot trends and new categories.
  • Ensure competitive, dominant merchandise assortments are made available for the client list.
  • Vendor negotiations/relations – procure the best terms for cost, freight, payment, coop advertising,
  • rebates and allowances.
  • Maintain strong, professional vendor relationships and monitor performance.
  • Maximize gross margin rate/profit contribution.
  • Negotiate for special costs for seasonal peak merchandise.
  • Ensure merchandise assortments that reflect and support client ideas and trends – stay abreast of trends through vendor communication, trade shows and internet research.
  • Follow through on ordered merchandise to ensure invoices are received, accurate as ordered and processed in a timely manner.

 

Education/Experience: Bachelor degree in Business Administration, or another related field with a minimum of one year of experience in purchasing.

Program Manager

Summary:  The position is responsible for the launch, coordination and maintenance of programs at the corporate level, working with internal departments and external clients to facilitate program planning, financial management, project control and quality management.

 

Duties:

  • Serve as primary contact between internal departments and client/customer regarding status of the program from developmental phase to launch.
  • Assume full ownership of program planning, design and execution.
  • Keep project team focused on process, process documentation and process improvement.
  • Prepare and maintain standard project management documents including:
    • Project management estimate
    • Project definition document/scope
      • Business requirements
      • Project flow diagrams
      • Project plan
      • Service level agreement
      • Communications plan
      • Action plans
      • Meeting agendas and minutes
      • Project dashboards
      • Scope change documents
      • End of work/Lessons learned document
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external clients to ensure program is implemented in a manner that meets or exceeds project standards in quality, efficiency and budget.
  • Assist in developing program metrics to gauge performance and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Generate reports and ensure the distribution of daily, weekly and monthly reports to clients.
  • Attend estimate start meetings called by Sales.
    • Determine appropriate expenses and estimate pricing for project management.
    • Compile RFP questions from internal departments.
  • Attend work start meetings called by Sales.
    • Gather details to prepare initial draft of program definition document/scope.
  • Facilitate internal cross-functional and client action plan/status meetings
  • Launch new programs based on determined specifications and expectations
  • Present Helm's program management capabilities and/or conduct demonstrations with Sales to potential clients.
  • Review invoices prepared by billing to ensure completeness and accuracy as defined in program estimates.
  • Monitor projects to continuously improve processes and resolve outstanding issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience:  
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline. 
Minimum 2 years project management experience.
